Transforming Lives Through Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Workshops
According to the World Health Organization, IPV (Intimate Partner Violence) is defined as “behavior within an intimate partner relationship that causes physical, sexual or psychological harm, including acts of physical aggression, sexual coercion, psychological abuse and controlling behaviors.” This widely used definition covers violence by both male and female, both current and former spouses and partners. IPV has enormous health and social consequences impacting individuals and family systems to include children.
Reflections Behavioral Health has taken the initiative to STOP the cycle of Intimate Partner Violence by launching a 26 week psychoeducational workshop ( 52 weeks for re-offenders) for men and women who struggle with perpetrating IPV. Trained and highly experienced licensed therapists will conduct workshops using bold interventions from the STOP curriculum, that are field tested for more than thirty years among military and civilian populations treating more than 50,000 domestic violence offenders.
Individuals enrolled in the Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Workshop will have the opportunity to become their best self, using ongoing integration of new research, creative interventions, and therapies. Individuals will work diligently to engage in group workshops with other participants gaining valuable life-skills using Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies along with Motivational Interviewing to identify behavioral responses leading to relationship struggles. The workshop includes individual counseling sessions to provide the participants with private opportunities to process more in-depth techniques and trauma-informed care to heal self and develop innovative skills for better relationships.
Groups are in person Thursday evenings for a total of 26 groups and individual sessions Individual therapies will remain available after the closing of workgroup to ensure participants have access to on-going support to ensure future success.
Reviews
“Taking the intimate partner violence class was an eye-opening experience. The information provided was not only informative but also empowering. It was definitely not what I expected”.
— Melissa N.
“Before taking this class, I didn’t fully understand what intimate partner violence really was. I expected a lecture about physical abuse but there was so much more. I learned that I was being controlling and manipulating. I was really surprised at how many other men had the same story as me. I learned so much about myself I decided to keep seeing a therapist after I completed the classes. I am grateful for this program”. — Jim R.
“This class helped me see things in my abusive relationship that I didn’t notice before. It gave me tools to cope with the effects of the abuse. The staff was so compassionate. I really recommend this class to anyone who needs support with domestic violence”.

“This was a good class. I learned a lot about myself, and it actually helped. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to get a better handle on their anger”. — Shawn P.
“This class taught me that anger isn’t just blowing up or breaking stuff. Sometimes it’s when you go quiet, give someone the cold shoulder or just keep holding on to things. I started to see that a lot of my anger came from feeling like I had no control – and I wasn’t handling those feelings in a good way”. — Jon S.

Eating Disorder Program
Our eating disorder program is customized specific for children and adults. While the treatment of eating disorders in children and adults shares many similarities, Reflections Behavioral Health recognizes that important differences must also be considered. Our Psychiatric Nurse Practioner is specialized in treating conditions such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder.
In children, eating disorders can have a serious effect on physical development, emotional growth, and overall well-being, while adults may be facing a longer history of other co-occurring disorders and contributing social factors complicating their eating disorder.
Our treatment approach consists of:
- A comprehensive assessment reviewing the medical and mental health.
- Medical stabilization. Individuals who need inpatient care to improve their physical health will be assisted with an appropriate referral. Others may receive nutritional counseling by a dietitian or medical professional.
- Therapeutic Interventions. Individual, family and group therapies focusing on their relationship with food, stress, body image, other underlying mental health disorders, ect.. .
- Education, support and peer groups.
While the core goals of our Eating Disorder Program: addressing disordered eating, improving mental health, and fostering a healthy relationship with food—remain consistent, the approach, structure, and focus are customized to meet each individual’s unique needs.

Tyies Goines, MSN, PMHNP-BC is one of our Psychiatric Nurse Practioners. Tyies has worked in mental health and nursing for over 14 years.
